NAYAGARH, April 20, 2026: The Department of Agriculture and Farmers' Empowerment organised a grand district-level event in Nayagarh today. The local administration hosted this programme to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya and Farmers' Day 2026. Hundreds of citizens and local farmers gathered to honor the farming community. Shri Gokulananda Mallik attended the event as the Chief Guest. He currently serves as the Honorable Minister of Fisheries and Animal Resources Development, as well as the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Department for the Government of Odisha.
The special day started with traditional ceremonies. Officials hosted the first programme at the District Pulses Research Centre in Nayagarh. Minister Gokulananda Mallik inaugurated the new agricultural season through traditional customs. He performed the sacred 'Bhumi Pujan' to worship the earth. Following this, he participated in the 'Akhi Muthi Anukula' ceremony. This historic ritual marks the auspicious beginning of seed sowing for the new farming year. The Minister sowed the first seeds to bring good luck and a rich harvest to the state.

During this broadcast, the Honorable Chief Minister of Odisha released the fourth installment of the CM-KISAN scheme. The government provides direct financial help to farmers through this important program. Across the state, the government transferred financial assistance to 4,168,582 farmers today. In Nayagarh district alone, 161,270 farmers received this valuable support directly into their bank accounts.
Many important leaders and government officials joined the farmers' meeting. Shri Dusmanta Kumar Swain, the Honorable MLA of Khandapada, attended the gathering. Engineer Debashish Patnaik, the Zilla Parishad President of Nayagarh, also showed his support.

Shri Anil Kumar Swain, the Chief Scientist of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Nayagarh, also attended to guide the farmers.
