The aspirants launched their mass sit-in protest on August 17. They remain on the streets despite continuous rainfall and difficult weather conditions. Demonstrators hold placards and state that they have waited for formal recruitment notifications for over three years. They note that the state government previously promised timely recruitment, but the administrative process has not moved forward.
The protest involves candidates seeking employment across several key teaching cadres. These posts include Junior Teacher (JT), Regular High School Teacher (RHT), Leave Training Reserve (LTR), Assistant Teacher (AT), SSB Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT), SSB Post Graduate Teacher (PGT), and Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan (OAVS) positions. According to the aspirants, thousands of candidates completed their professional training years ago. They state that the prolonged delay creates professional and financial uncertainty for qualified graduates across Odisha.
The protesting candidates have outlined three primary demands for the state government:
The administration must start direct official talks with the representatives of the protesting candidates.

The school education department must fill all existing teacher vacancies in state-run primary and secondary schools.
The government must release a comprehensive recruitment calendar with specific deadlines, examination dates, and certificate verification schedules.
The candidates are now seeking direct intervention from School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond and the state government. They urge the state leadership to address administrative bottlenecks and finalize the hiring framework. The organizers announced that they will maintain their peaceful demonstration at Lower PMG until the government issues a formal written schedule for all pending teacher recruitment processes.
