NAYAGADA, July 12, (Report- Ramakrushna Rath): The Pujyapuja Committee in Nayagada organised a grand memorial event today. The event celebrated the 119th birth anniversary of the legendary Dasharathi Patnaik. People fondly call him "Dasia Aja". He was a true pioneer of the library movement in the state. Citizens gathered near his statue in the Nayagada market to pay their deep respects. The committee held a special tribute program to remember his great life and important work. 
Remembering the '10 Paise King': Nayagarh Honors Dasia Aja on 119th Anniversary


Prashanna Kumar Basantia, the president of the Pujyapuja Committee, led the entire program. Under his leadership, people paid their heartfelt tributes. Leaders and common citizens garlanded the statue of Dasia Aja. They also lit incense sticks and traditional lamps. The atmosphere felt peaceful and respectful. Everyone remembered the great man who dedicated his life to education and literature.
Ramakrishna Rath, a senior member of the committee, delivered an inspiring speech. He talked about the major achievements of the late Dasharathi Patnaik. He reminded the crowd about Dasia Aja's priceless contributions to society. Culture lovers and local citizens chanted powerful slogans during the event. They proudly shouted, "Long live Dasia Aja, the king of ten paise." This slogan highlights his humble nature. He built a massive library and museum by asking people to donate just ten paise. His hard work created a treasure house of knowledge for future generations.
Many important people attended this memorial program. Godabarish Sahoo, the Chairman of Civil Society Nayagada, joined the gathering. Bhagabati Patnaik, the Vice-Chairman, also showed his respect. Rotarian Purna Chandra Sahoo and Bhagirathi Sahoo took part in the celebration. Scout students from the Sri Ramakrishna Adarsha Sikshyakendra actively participated. Members of the Devadoot organisation came to honor the great leader. Social worker Ranjan Kumar Jena joined the crowd as well. Many young people from Nayagarh attended the event to learn about their local hero. Their presence showed that the younger generation still values his rich legacy.
Senior committee members Sridhar Sahoo and Dhirendra Patnaik managed the entire program smoothly. They ensured that every part of the event went perfectly. Finally, famous local poet Sarat Chandra Acharya delivered the vote of thanks. He thanked everyone for giving their valuable time. The event successfully brought the community together.
