Nayagada, (Report- Ramakrushna Rath): On July 3, 2026, the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee held an important meeting in Nayagada. People also call this the DISHA meeting. The event started at 10:30 in the morning. Officials arranged the program at the Srujan Conference Hall inside the Nayagada Zilla Parishad office. Cuttack Member of Parliament (MP) Bhartruhari Mahtab chaired the session. He led the review of various government schemes. 
Many prominent leaders and local representatives attended the meeting. Puri MP Dr. Sambit Patra and Kandhamal MP Sukanta Kumar Panigrahi took part in the discussions. Khandapada Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) and District Planning Board Chairman Dusmanta Kumar Swain joined them. Nayagada MLA Dr. Arun Kumar Sahoo also attended the event. Other key officials included Zilla Parishad Chairman Engineer Debashis Patnaik, District Collector Madhumita Rath, and Chief Development Officer Lagnajit Rout.
District Collector Madhumita Rath welcomed all the guests on the stage. She gave the opening speech to start the program. After her speech, the committee reviewed the work of different government departments. First, the Chairman spoke with the officials from the District Industries Center. They discussed the approval of business loans under the government employment generation program. They also reviewed the success of the "Udyami Odisha" program, which supports small and medium businesses.
Next, the committee focused on women's empowerment. Members discussed ways to create more "Lakhpati Didis" in the district. They asked bank officials to provide helpful loans to women for this purpose.
After this, the leaders reviewed the Brutanga Major Irrigation Project. The MPs, MLAs, and public representatives talked to the Executive Engineer about the progress of this large water project. They carefully checked the daily work plan.
The meeting then moved to the rural drinking water supply. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, officials discussed digging new tube wells. They also reviewed the mega drinking water project. This project aims to provide clean tap water to every single house in the district.
Later, the Chairman asked the District Social Security Officer for a clear report. He wanted to know how many people applied for different pension schemes. He also checked how many people actually received the money.
The committee also talked to the Forest Department officials. They discussed planting new trees along the local roadsides. They reviewed the production and supply of new plants for the current year.
Next, the leaders spoke with the Executive Engineer of the local electricity provider. They instructed the power company to move unsafe electrical transformers away from schools and village centers. Finally, the committee discussed road conditions. They asked the Roads and Building Department to repair and maintain roads in the town areas.
