Cuttack: 22/05 (Rupashree Swetapadma Mohanty): SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack has a new transport service. On Thursday, the hospital started using 10 new battery-operated e-carts. The Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) gave these e-carts to the hospital as a gift. This new service will help patients and their families travel easily inside the large hospital campus.
The SCB hospital campus is very big. Thousands of people visit the hospital every single day for medical treatment. Sick people find it very difficult to walk from one building to another. Family members also run between different places all day. They go to the wards, the blood bank, the testing centers, and the medicine counters. The hot summer weather makes this walking even harder. Elderly people and disabled visitors face the biggest problems while moving around the hospital.
The new e-carts will solve many of these daily problems. The hospital runs this transport service completely free of charge. Visitors can use the e-carts every day from 8:00 in the morning until 8:00 at night. The carts will pick up people and take them exactly where they need to go. They will drive patients directly to the Outpatient Departments (OPDs), the main hospital wards, and the diagnostic centers.
Each e-cart comes with a special wheelchair. This wheelchair helps people who cannot walk at all. The hospital also provides a trained driver for every single cart. These drivers know the hospital campus very well. They will drive carefully to keep the sick patients safe during the ride.
Hospital leaders feel very happy about this new project. They say the e-carts will give a big boost to patient care. Sick people will no longer feel tired before they reach the doctor. Families will save a lot of time and energy. Also, these carts run entirely on batteries. They do not use petrol or diesel fuel. They do not produce harmful smoke or loud noises. This helps the hospital keep the campus clean, green, and quiet for everyone.
A senior hospital official thanked HUDCO for their kind gift. The official said this project shows their true dedication to the patients. The official added that serving sick people is their only goal. This new step will surely bring great comfort and relief to thousands of people who visit SCB Medical College and Hospital every week.
