BHUBANESWAR, April 23, 2026: (Report- Lipika Rani Raut): The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has raised a serious complaint against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state. The BJD claims that several BJP leaders who hold important constitutional posts are ignoring the rules of their high offices. The opposition party stated that these officials frequently cross the line by joining political party events instead of maintaining their required neutrality.
Accusations at the Press Conference
Ipsita Sahoo, the president of the Biju Chhatra Janata Dal, shared these details during a press meeting. She organized this meeting today at Sankha Bhavan. During her speech, she provided many clear examples to prove her point. She explained how people in high government positions fail to keep the dignity of their roles intact. She strongly criticized these leaders for choosing party loyalty over their official duties.
The Case of the Speaker
Sahu focused heavily on a recent incident involving the Speaker of the State Assembly, Surama Padhy. People saw the Speaker at a public political rally. Bhubaneswar Member of Parliament Aparajita Sarangi organized this specific event. During this crowded rally, someone reportedly pushed Speaker Padhy. Sahu asked a very direct question about this event. She asked if it makes sense for a person in such a respected, neutral position to attend a political rally. Sahu also noted that people previously saw the Speaker attending programs inside the BJP party office.
Actions of State Commissions
The BJD leader did not stop there. She also pointed fingers at other important state groups. Sahu mentioned the State Commission for Women and the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights. The BJP government appointed the current leaders of these commissions. According to Sahu, these leaders also fail to respect the limits of their official roles. The public often sees them attending political party programs instead of doing their official work.
Neglect of Duty
Sahu gave a very serious example to highlight this problem. Recently, a severe and tragic crime occurred in the Brahmagiri area involving a young six-year-old child. A BJD team visited the affected family to offer their deep support during this difficult time. The young child and the family were fighting hard for justice. However, the heads of the Child Commission and the Women's Commission did not visit the family. Instead, they took part in a political protest rally organized by the BJP at that exact time.
Final Appeal
The BJD ended the press meeting with a strong request. The party asked leaders in constitutional positions to stay away from everyday party politics. The opposition party reminded these officials that they must focus entirely on solving the problems of the common people. The BJD hopes these officials will act carefully and honor the deep trust placed in their high offices.
