BHUBANESWAR: Thousands of people across Odisha participated in a massive "Heritage Run" on Sunday. This event took place on the fifth day of the "Odia Paksha" festival. The state government organized these runs to inspire people to protect and promote the rich history of the region. From professional athletes to young students, people from all walks of life joined the celebration.
The group included athletes, students, and senior government officials. Many people with disabilities also joined the run, showing great spirit and energy. All participants took a special pledge to guard the state’s famous monuments and spread awareness about their importance. To honor their effort, the organizers gave medals and certificates to every runner at the finish line.
In Ganjam, the event took place in Berhampur. MLA K. Anil Kumar started the run at the Mahatma Gandhi Stadium. More than 500 people ran to Khallikote College and back to the stadium. The crowd included many women and intellectuals who wanted to show their support for Odia culture.
In Gajapati, MLA Rupesh Kumar Panigrahi led the event in Paralakhemundi. He encouraged the public to take pride in their local landmarks. Meanwhile, in Nabarangpur, MLA Gouri Shankar Majhi started the race for hundreds of school children. These events successfully brought communities together to celebrate their shared identity. By the end of the day, the "Heritage Run" proved that the people of Odisha are deeply committed to preserving their past for the future.
