NAYAGARH, April 19 (Ramakrushna Rath): The Rotary Club of Nayagarh celebrated the birthday of Paul Harris, the founder of the Rotary Club. 
Club President Basiran Bibi led the special event. During the programme, the members discussed the service goals and ideals of the Rotary organisation. Paul Harris was born on April 19, 1868. He started the first Rotary Club in Chicago, USA, in 1905 alongside a group of friends.
The club celebrated the birthday in a unique and local way. The members cut a famous local sweet, "Chhenapoda," instead of a traditional cake to mark the occasion. The Rotarians at the event remembered Paul Harris and talked about his great contributions to world peace and social service.
Many key club members attended the program to pay their respects. Vice President Madanmohan Mohapatra joined the event. Senior members, including G Rashmiraj, Mihir Ranjan Nayak, Prashant Patnaik, Srikumar Rath, Basudev Sahu, Debashish Patnaik, Dillip Mishra, and Dhirendra Patnaik, also took part.
At the end of the event, all the members took a pledge. They promised to continue the Rotary mission and work hard for the welfare of society.
