BALIGUDA: APRIL 5, 2026 (Report- Snanjay Kumar Panigrahi): Forest officials arrested a man on Sunday for allegedly attempting to sell a leopard skin near Ringibadi village in Kandhamal district.
The enforcement team from the Tikabali Forest Range conducted a raid in the Chakapada block after receiving a reliable tip-off. During the operation, they seized a leopard skin measuring 168 centimeters in length.
The accused has been identified as Pankaj Kanhar. According to Forest Range Officer Rashmi Ranjan Swain, Kanhar was caught while transporting the skin to a potential buyer.
The Forest Department is now investigating the source of the leopard skin. Officer Swain stated that the team is working to identify other individuals involved in this illegal trade. They are also checking if the leopard was poached recently within the local forest limits.
