Hinjilikatu, April 4, 2026 (Report- Sarathi Padhi): As temperatures soar in the Hinjilikatu region, local residents and travelers are facing a severe drinking water crisis. Despite the heat crossing 37°C, the local administration has yet to open public water kiosks (Jala Chhatras), leaving citizens at the mercy of unauthorized bottled water brands.
The lack of free drinking water is especially hard on:
Reports suggest that these "nameless" brands may be producing water illegally without following safety standards. This has led to frequent arguments between shopkeepers and customers over the high costs and the quality of the water.
Without quick intervention, the combination of extreme heat and unsafe drinking water poses a significant health risk to the people of Hinjilikatu.

This has led to frequent arguments between shopkeepers and customers over the high costs and the quality of the water.

Residents have raised two main demands - The Municipality and Block office must immediately set up kiosks at busy intersections and public squares. Health officials should check the quality of bottled water being sold in the market and take action against illegal manufacturing units.Without quick intervention, the combination of extreme heat and unsafe drinking water poses a significant health risk to the people of Hinjilikatu.
