Bhanjanagar (April 20): (Jaya Krishna Patnaik): Ganjam district celebrated the district-level Farmers' Day on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. Officials organized the event today at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Bena Kunda, near Bhanjanagar. Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, the Minister of Commerce, Transport, Steel, and Mines, attended the event as the chief guest.

Traditional Rituals

The program began with traditional prayers and a holy fire ritual. Following the customs, Minister Jena and other dignitaries performed the "Akhimuthi Anukula." This traditional act marks the beginning of the seed-sowing season.

Public Meeting and Addresses

After the rituals, the organizers held a public meeting. Minister Jena addressed the crowd. He highlighted that agriculture is the backbone of Odisha. He assured everyone that the government always works for the welfare and progress of farmers. He advised the farmers to practice mixed farming and use organic fertilizers to suit the local climate changes.
Additionally, Ganjam District Collector V. Keerthi Vasan spoke to the crowd. He explained several government schemes designed to support and develop the farming community.

Other block officials, agriculture scientists, and local leaders also participated in the event. Most importantly, a large number of local farmers actively joined the program to celebrate the day.
