Cuttack, April 17, 2026 (Rupashree Swetapadma Mohanty): The 29th death anniversary of legendary statesman, freedom fighter, and architect of modern Odisha, ‘Prabada Purusha’ Biju Patnaik, was observed as ‘Prabada Purusha Diwas’ at Barabati-Cuttack on Thursday.

Led by Biju Janata Dal treasurer Subash Singh, the BJD Barabati-Cuttack unit organized the programme. As part of the rituals for the departed soul, ‘til tarpan’ was performed at Gadagadia Ghat in Cuttack. A large public meeting followed.
Leaders recalled Biju Babu’s immense contributions to Odisha, India, Russia, and Indonesia. BJD treasurer Subash Singh noted that at the time of his death, Biju Patnaik’s mortal remains were draped with the national flags of India, Russia, and Indonesia — a testament to his greatness.
