Angul, April 12, 2026 (Report by: Harekrushna Naik): The Angul district administration is currently preparing for a massive cultural event. Officials will proudly host the 13th Angul District Festival this month. The grand celebration will take place over five days, starting on April 17 and concluding on April 22. The local administration has already completed the major preparations to ensure a smooth and joyful event for everyone. The entire district eagerly awaits this grand festival.
They performed a special religious ceremony to seek blessings for the success of the festival. Former Education and Commerce Transport Minister Sanjeeb Kumar Sahoo actively participated in this ritual. Former MLA Ramesh Chandra Sai and many members of the Athamallik block administration also attended the holy ceremony.
Many people gathered on the streets to witness the beautiful event. Key community workers actively joined the general public to greet the rally. These included Master Book Keepers (MBKs), Community Resource Persons (CRPs) and Local Panchayat staff
After spending some time with the welcoming crowds in Thakurgarh, the chariot continued its journey forward. The rally moved safely toward the Patrapada Maa Bayani Peetha, which falls under the Chhendipada constituency. From there, the torch will eventually travel to the main Angul district headquarters. This beautiful procession successfully connects different parts of the district. It brings the people together as they prepare to celebrate their rich local culture in the upcoming five-day mega festival.
The Torch Rally Begins its Journey
To build excitement for the upcoming festival, organisers launched a special torch rally. This traditional rally began its journey from Athamallik. Before the journey started, local leaders and officials gathered at the holy Deulajhari Shaiva Peetha in Athamallik to offer prayers.They performed a special religious ceremony to seek blessings for the success of the festival.
