Badachana: (Report- Ranjan Sahoo): A sudden Nor’wester storm (Kalabaishakhi) caused significant damage and traffic delays in the Chhatia area of Jajpur district on Thursday afternoon.
Strong winds and heavy rain uprooted several trees along National Highway 16 in the Badachana block. These fallen trees blocked the main road, halting traffic between Cuttack and Chandikhole for several hours.
The storm did more than just block roads. Residents reported the high-speed winds blew away the tin roofs of many local shops. Heavy trees fell directly onto the highway, creating a complete standstill. Local vendors faced losses due to the structural damage caused by the wind.
National Highway Authority officials arrived at the spot shortly after the storm subsided. They used cutters to clear the fallen trees and debris from the road. Traffic flow returned to normal once the authorities cleared the path.
