Making Spiritual Dreams a Reality

The ‘Shri Jagannath Darshan Yojana’ is designed specifically for senior citizens aged between 60 and 75 years and widowed women from economically weaker sections of society. For many of these individuals, visiting the world-famous Jagannath Temple in Puri has been a lifelong dream that remained unfulfilled due to poverty or family struggles.
Chief Minister Majhi stated that the state government wants to act like 'Shravan Kumar' for the elderly. By taking over the responsibility of their pilgrimage, the government ensures that no devotee is left behind because of a lack of money.

Key Facilities Provided Under the Scheme

The state government is providing a complete travel package under its direct supervision. The benefits include:
  • Comfortable Transport: Travel in air-conditioned (AC) buses to ensure a smooth journey.
  • Accommodation: Safe and comfortable stays in Puri (Shreekshetra).
  • Mahaprasad: Provision of the sacred Mahaprasad for all pilgrims.
  • Full Funding: The entire cost of the trip is covered by the government.

A Major Development Boost for Nabarangpur

Beyond the spiritual scheme, the Chief Minister’s visit brought a wave of development to Nabarangpur. He laid the foundation stone for a new Government Medical College and Hospital. This project is expected to revolutionize healthcare in the region and provide local students with the opportunity to pursue medical education close to home.
The Chief Minister also launched several other public welfare projects aimed at boosting the local economy. He emphasized that the government is committed to removing regional imbalances. By focusing on every district, the state aims to reach the goal of a "Prosperous Odisha" by 2036.

Vision for the Future

The state government is following the principle of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas" (Together with all, Development for all). Through these initiatives, the government aims to protect Odisha's unique heritage while building modern infrastructure. The launch of this pilgrimage scheme highlights a governance model that puts people and their emotions at the very center of its mission.
