Nayagarh: (Report- Ramakrushna Rath): Nayagarh district in Odisha marked World AIDS Day on December 1st with a large-scale awareness campaign, emphasizing the collective goal of achieving an AIDS-free society. The District Headquarters Hospital organised the grand event, bringing together health officials, students, and community members to raise public awareness about HIV and AIDS prevention.
Senior health officials and staff from the District AIDS Cell actively participated in the rally. Participants included Dr. Naushad Ali Khan (ADPHO, DC), Dr. Sarat Kumar Das (ADPHO, TB), Dr. Prasanna Prasad Sahoo (Senior Eye Specialist), Shri Ashok Kumar Sahoo (ADPHCO), counsellors Kalpana Nayak and Debashish Singh, along with students from various educational institutions.
The walk started from the District Headquarters Hospital, proceeded through the Nayagarh market, passed the District Collector's office, and culminated at the Traffic Square. Students from Agradoot Nursing School then performed a short street play there, effectively communicating important messages about HIV/AIDS to the public. The rally later returned to the District Headquarters Hospital.
The meeting welcomed Bijayananda Nayak (ADM Rev) as the Chief Guest, Subhash Chandra Panda (Additional Superintendent of Police) as a Guest of Honor, and other senior health officers like Dr. Naushad Ali Khan and Dr. Sarat Kumar Das. Representatives from various media houses, hospital staff, and students also attended. Shri Ashok Kumar Sahoo (ADPHO), a hospital staff member, efficiently managed the proceedings of the meeting.
During the discussion, the invited guests highlighted the severity of HIV and AIDS. They collectively focused on how the country can successfully eradicate HIV/AIDS, emphasizing the importance of education and community involvement. The speakers called for coordinated efforts to establish a healthy society free from the disease.
