The yatra, which began at Master Canteen and concluded at Rama Devi University, saw the participation of thousands of women from different walks of life. Among the notable attendees were Sergeant Lieutenant Commander Ananya Dalabehera of the Indian Navy and Priyadarshini Acharya, the wife of Pahalgaon martyr Prashant Satpathy. Their presence added deep emotional significance to the event, reinforcing the message of sacrifice, unity, and national pride.

A Tribute to Soldiers and Women’s Resolve

Addressing the crowd, Chief Minister Majhi emphasized the deeper meaning behind Operation Sindoor
“This is not just a name—it represents the perfect blend of the Indian Army’s courage and the unwavering strength of Indian women,” he said. “Through this yatra, we pay our respects to the brave soldiers who protect our borders and ensure our safety every day.”

He drew a powerful parallel between the traditional significance of sindoor (vermilion) in Indian culture and its symbolic connection to patriotism.
“When an Indian woman applies sindoor, it signifies her commitment to safeguarding her family. Similarly, sindoor represents both a warning to our enemies and a mark of victory for our people. This is why our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, aptly named this mission Operation Sindoor.”

Celebrating Women in the Armed Forces

The Chief Minister also highlighted the growing role of women in India’s defense forces, citing inspiring examples such as Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh.
“These women are not just soldiers; they are symbols of modern India’s strength and determination,” he said. “Seeing the enthusiasm and courage of the women here today reminds me of their bravery.”

He further reiterated the Odisha government’s commitment to empowering women through various initiatives, including skill development programs, financial support, and increased opportunities in education and employment.

“Our mission is to ensure that every woman in Odisha has the resources and confidence to achieve her dreams,” he added.

A Message of Unity and Patriotism

The Sindoor Yatra was more than just a march—it was a vibrant celebration of India’s unity, the sacrifices of its armed forces, and the indomitable spirit of its women. The sea of participants, dressed in traditional attire and waving the tricolor, created a breathtaking spectacle of solidarity.
