Kolkata (25/5): A hybrid international workshop titled "AYUSH Research, Development, and Opportunities in West Bengal" was jointly organized by the Independent Research Ethics Society and the Central Ayurveda Research Institute under the Government of India in Salt Lake, Kolkata. The event began with a silent prayer in memory of the brave souls who sacrificed their lives in the Pahalgam attack.
The workshop was inaugurated by key dignitaries, including Dr. Pawan Kumar Sharma (organiser and entrepreneur), Dr. G. Prabhu (Director of the Central Ayurveda Research Institute), and Vaidya S.P. Sharma (President of the World Ayurveda Council), who lit the ceremonial lamp.
During the program, Yoga trainer Sanatan Mahakud, Dr. Suparna Sanyal Mukherjee, and Dr. Shaikat Kumar Basu were honored with the "IRIS-AYUSH Samriddhi Award 2025" for their dedicated contributions to health awareness and social welfare.
The workshop explored various aspects of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) research and development in West Bengal. Experts, doctors, and researchers discussed advancements, challenges, and future opportunities in these traditional medicine systems.
