NAYAGARH, Sept 5 (Report - Ramakrishna Rath): In a significant step toward the rehabilitation and empowerment of prison inmates, a self-reliance-based skill development training program was inaugurated at the Nayagarh District Jail premises on Saturday morning. 
The event was graced by Nayagarh District Collector Madhumita Rath as the Chief Guest, who officially inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Other prominent dignitaries in attendance included Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Smruti Ranjan Samantaray, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Srushti Pradhan, Jail Superintendent Babuli Barik, District Skill Development and Employment Officer Manaswi Sethy, and Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) Director Manoj Kumar Sethy.
Addressing the gathering, Collector Madhumita Rath emphasized the core objective of the initiative, shedding light on how the training will help inmates achieve financial independence and self-reliance both during their incarceration and after their eventual reintegration into mainstream society.
During the session, Jail Superintendent Babuli Barik and District Skill Development Officer Manaswi Sethy urged the Collector to facilitate market linkages to ensure the smooth sale of the products manufactured by the inmates once their training is complete.
As part of the initiative, specialized training kits and equipment, provided by Jan Shikshan Sansthan, Nayagarh, were distributed among the beneficiary inmates by the Collector and the ASP. The dignitaries later inspected samples of the goods slated to be produced within the prison facility.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by JSS Director Manoj Kumar Sethy. He expressed his gratitude to the District Skill Development Officer and the Jail Superintendent for successfully organizing the event and conveyed his optimism for the effective implementation of the training programme in the days ahead.
