Patna, Keonjhar 28/08 (Report - Kartik Behera): ​Vigilance department officers arrested a Junior Revenue Assistant at the Patna Tehsil office for accepting a bribe. The official took the money to process a land record partition.
​The accused official is B.H. Umashankar. He initially demanded Rs 10,000 from Jhadeswar Mahanta, a resident of Dalanga village. Mahanta needed official documents to partition his land.

​Mahanta reported this demand to the Vigilance department. Vigilance officers verified the complaint. During this time, Umashankar and Mahanta discussed the amount again. The official finally agreed to accept Rs 6,000.
​The Vigilance team set a trap to catch the official. They arrested Umashankar exactly when he took the Rs 6,000 from Mahanta at the designated location. Officers seized the cash directly from the scene.
​The Vigilance department registered a case against the official and started a formal investigation. Investigators are currently checking if other government employees are involved in this incident.
