NAYAGARH, August 5 (Report -Ramakrishna Rath): The Rotary Club of Nayagarh and the Nayagarh Sambadik Bhawan (Journalists' Association) jointly organised a mega blood donation camp today. The drive successfully collected 93 units of blood, setting a new collection record for camps held by the Nayagarh Blood Bank this year.
Sambadik Bhawan President Baidyabhushan Mahapatra convened and coordinated the event. Zilla Parishad Chairperson Er. Debasish Patnaik and Nayagarh Municipality Chairperson Nirupama Khatei officially inaugurated the camp.
During the opening address, Er. Debasish Patnaik commended the organizers for their initiative. He emphasized that regular blood donation plays a critical role in supporting emergency healthcare and medical treatments across the district. Sambadik Bhawan Secretary Anil Kumar Panda managed the operational flow of the programme.
A dedicated team from the Nayagarh Blood Bank conducted the screening and collection process. Dr. Abinash Satapathy, Medical Officer from Kajalaipalli, led the medical staff. Healthcare professionals Ajay Kumar Patnaik, Pabitra Mohan Sahoo, Sasmita Dash, and Rabindra Nath Sahu assisted the donors and ensured adherence to safety protocols throughout the session.
Blood Bank officials confirmed that the 93 units collected today represent the highest single-day collection figure among all blood donation camps conducted in the district during the current calendar year.
Many prominent citizens and local leaders attended the camp to donate blood and encourage others. Notable donors included, Santosh Pradhan, Political leader, Santosh Mahapatra, Superintending Engineer, TPCODL, Tapas Ranjan Padhi, Local businessman, Manas Ranjan Satapathy, Principal, Model Degree College, Lakshmidhar Sahoo, Educator.
Youth participation contributed significantly to the total collection. Students from Unitech Residential College, Nayagarh Autonomous College, Samarth Academy, and Acharya Academy actively took part in the donation drive.
Several Rotarians and local journalists assisted in organising and executing the event. Key supporters included Rotarians Basudev Sahoo, Abinash Sahoo, and Prakash Patnaik, alongside journalists Nihar Patnaik, Biswajit Nayak, Rabindra Dash, Santosh Kumar Sahoo, Prashant Kumar Jena, Bibhuti Bhushan Swain, Ramakrishna Rath, and several other members of the press and civil society.
