NIMAPADA, JUNE 19, 2026 (Ajay Mallick): The Brahmeswar Temple Management Committee successfully organised a grand three-day religious festival in Nimapada. Thousands of devotees gathered to celebrate the divine marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. This beautiful ceremony took place at the holy Brahmeswar Mahadev Pitha. The temple sits near Charichhaka under the Nimapada block in the Puri district.
The festival brought great joy and devotion to the local people. The committee held their annual festival alongside a Vishwa Shanti Maha Yajna. This Maha Yajna is a large sacred fire sacrifice performed to bring world peace. The main highlight of the festival was the Shiva Vivaha. Devotees celebrate this holy wedding during the auspicious occasion of Sitala Sasthi. People also visited and prayed at the nearby shrines of Brahma Kundi Maa Tarini and Brahma Mahavir.
During the divine wedding, local devotees acted as the human parents of the gods. Braja Kishore Nayak and Manjulata Nayak took the blessed roles of Goddess Parvati’s parents. At the same time, Chakradhar Muduli and Swarnalata Muduli joyfully acted as Lord Shiva’s parents. A dedicated group of learned priests led the traditional wedding rituals. The priests included Rasananda Das, Arjun Panda, Devadatta Mishra, and Suryakant Mishra. They chanted holy mantras and completed the marriage process perfectly.
Many important guests attended the holy event to seek blessings. Former MLA Samir Ranjan Dash visited the temple and joined the devotees. He watched the divine wedding program with great respect. After the marriage rituals ended, the priests performed the special Bandapana ceremony. This beautiful ritual involves waving traditional lamps to welcome and bless the newlywed divine couple.
The grand festival lasted for three peaceful days. Devotees named Chakradhar Sa and Anjali Pradhan sat as the chief performers (Karta) of the world peace sacrifice. Today, the priests performed the Purnahuti. Purnahuti marks the final and most important offering to the sacred fire. Finally, the temple committee organised a large Prasad Sevan program. Devotees sat together and ate the blessed food. The entire area echoed with the holy chants of Lord Shiva, bringing peace and happiness to everyone.
