Tomorrow marks a very special day in the holy city of Puri. The famous Jagannath Temple will celebrate the great festival of Deba Snana Purnima. Millions of devotees eagerly wait for this grand visual treat every single year.
Puri Snana Purnima: Catch Lord Jagannath's Rare Hati Besha Live!

Before the main event begins, the temple must complete several traditional preparations. Today, the dedicated Daitapati servitors performed special secret rituals for the deities. They successfully completed the Senapata Lagi and Bahut Kanta rituals inside the main temple. Because tradition keeps these rituals completely private, the temple authorities stopped general public viewing in the morning. The priests will resume the regular daily rituals only after they finish these secret duties.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration wants the grand festival to run perfectly. Therefore, they have joined hands with the local police department. Together, they have set up very strong security arrangements across the entire temple town. They want to ensure a smooth, peaceful, and safe Snana Yatra for everyone. Hundreds of police officers will stand on duty to manage and guide the massive crowds.
The temple authorities have also made clear rules for the visiting devotees. People who hold special Parimanik tickets will enter the temple through the South Gate. This specific gate will allow them to watch the beautiful Pahandi procession smoothly. Meanwhile, the general devotees will use the main Lion Gate, also known as Singhadwara, to enter the temple. From there, they can easily see the beautiful deities sitting on the Snana Bedi, or the bathing altar. After taking the holy blessings, all general devotees must exit through the other three gates of the temple.
Arabinda Padhee, the Chief Administrator of the temple, shared a very positive message with the public today. He stated that with the supreme Lord's blessings, the grand Snana Yatra will happen safely and beautifully this year. For the devotees who cannot travel to visit Puri, he shared some great news. The national broadcaster, Doordarshan, will show the entire Snana Yatra live on television. The live television broadcast will begin early tomorrow morning at exactly 5:00 AM. This excellent arrangement allows devotees from all over the world to watch the holy bathing festival right from their homes.
