Vice President CP Radhakrishnan will attend the event as the chief guest to inaugurate the initiative.

Boosting the Marine Economy

The new LOA system will grant official permission to eligible Indian fishing vessels to operate in deep and distant waters. Government officials confirmed that the entire process will strictly follow national and international maritime regulations. This framework aims to balance economic growth with environmental conservation.
Currently, traditional fishermen often face limits in shallow coastal waters due to overfishing and high competition. This initiative will open up the vast resources of the deep ocean for Indian fleets. It will provide local fishermen with better livelihood opportunities and accelerate financial growth in the coastal communities.

Preparations Underway

To ensure the event runs smoothly, Chief Secretary Anu Garg led a high-level preparatory meeting in Bhubaneswar. Senior administrative and police officials attended the meeting to finalize logistics, security arrangements, and hospitality protocols for the visiting dignitaries.

Over 1,000 delegates from across the country will participate in the launch event. These attendees include marine scientists, fisheries experts, policymakers, and representatives from various fishing communities.
Industry experts believe this policy update will modernize India's fishing sector. By standardizing the authorization process, the government hopes to curb illegal fishing practices while maximizing export potential. The program marks a significant step forward in India's "Blue Economy" goals, which focus on the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth.
