Bhubaneswar: (Report- Priya Ranjan Nayak): The people of Odisha will finally get some relief from the severe heat. The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a new weather update. The weather department expects rain across the state until May 6. This change in weather happens because of the Kalabaisakhi, also known as Nor'westers. The rain will cool down the air. It will give people a much-needed break from the extreme summer temperatures.
Many other districts will also experience rain and thunder on May 1. Light to moderate rain will fall in scattered parts of Northern and Interior Odisha. The affected districts include Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Keonjhar and Nabarangpur.
Despite the recent storms, some places still recorded high temperatures on Thursday.
Balangir recorded a high temperature of 42.2 degrees Celsius. Boudh saw 42 degrees Celsius. Nuapada recorded 41.6 degrees Celsius. Titilagarh hit 41.3 degrees Celsius.
However, the rain helped cool down other areas. The temperature in Jharsuguda dropped to 39.4 degrees Celsius. Talcher recorded 38.5 degrees Celsius. Bargarh saw 37.8 degrees Celsius, and Phulbani recorded 37.6 degrees Celsius. People hope the coming rains will bring even cooler days ahead.
Expected Temperature Drops
The intense heat in Western Odisha will soon drop. Coastal, Northern, and Southern Odisha will also see a big drop in temperatures. The weather experts predict the temperatures will stay between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius in these areas. This is a very good sign for everyone living in the state.Weather Warnings for May 1
The weather department gave a special warning for May 1. They issued an orange warning for the Mayurbhanj and Balasore districts. These two districts will face strong thunderstorms and heavy rain. Strong winds will blow at speeds of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour.Many other districts will also experience rain and thunder on May 1. Light to moderate rain will fall in scattered parts of Northern and Interior Odisha. Forecast for May 2 to May 6
The rain will not stop after May 1. On May 2, storms will hit Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati. The weather department also expects more rain and thunderstorms on May 3, May 4, May 5, and May 6 across different parts of the state.Recent Weather Changes
