The safety of citizens is the top duty of any government. Recently, the Odisha Police proved this commitment. They launched an eight-day special drive across the state. This campaign brought excellent results. The police worked hard to stop illegal activities and protect the public. Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania directed this noble effort. The drive began on May 12. It showed the true power of teamwork and dedication.

Clear Goals and Strong Leadership

Additional Director General Sanjay Kumar supervised the entire operation. Police leaders from all districts joined the mission. The team included District Superintendents of Police and the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner. They set clear goals for the week. They wanted to execute pending warrants. They aimed to stop the illegal trade of minerals and banned substances. They also focused on making the roads safer by stopping careless drivers.

Major Achievements on the Ground

The police achieved impressive numbers during this short time. They made the state much safer through direct action.
  • Warrants and Suspects: They executed 3,493 warrants across the state. Officers caught 291 missing suspects and presented them in court. They also took legal steps against 758 regular offenders.
  • Banned Substances: The fight against illegal substances saw huge success. The police registered 51 cases and caught 57 people. They seized a massive 3,754 kilograms of ganja.
  • Road Safety: Officers took action against 1,756 people for driving under the influence. They collected over 3.27 crore rupees in traffic fines.
  • Mining and Goods: The police tackled illegal mining by registering 331 cases and catching 83 people. They seized 379 heavy vehicles, including trucks and tractors. They also rescued 82 cows and stopped illegal transport.

Regional Teamwork

Different regions showed great teamwork during the drive. The Central Range in Cuttack executed the most warrants. They cleared 942 cases. The South-Western Range stopped the most illegal substances. They seized 2,344 kilograms of ganja. The Western Range in Rourkela led in traffic enforcement. They collected nearly 95.75 lakh rupees in fines. The Southern and Northern ranges also successfully removed illegal weapons from the streets.

This special drive brings a wave of relief to the common people. The Odisha Police showed that they are always ready to protect the public. DGP Khurania promised that these special operations will continue in the future. The authorities will keep taking strict steps against illegal groups.
