Odisha Anganwadi Push: Deputy CM Pravati Parida Urges MLAs to Act

Pravati Parida also serves as the Minister of Women and Child Development. In her official letter, she asked the elected representatives to actively support the construction of new Anganwadi buildings. She urged them to focus on the overall development process in their specific constituencies. She believes that local leaders play a key role in making these important projects successful.

Empowering Women and Ensuring Quality

The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted a crucial point in her message. She strongly emphasized the need for women to participate in these ongoing projects. She directed the leaders to ensure that women get actively involved in the local development work. When women take part in these activities, the entire community benefits and grows much stronger.
Good construction work always requires careful supervision. Smt. Parida requested the MLAs to personally monitor the building projects at their own level. She listed two main goals for the local leaders to watch:
  • Timely Completion: Construction teams must finish the Anganwadi centers strictly on schedule.
  • High-Quality Work: Builders must maintain excellent quality standards to provide safe and durable buildings for children.

Recent Infrastructure Achievements

The state government already made excellent progress in improving these facilities. During the financial years 2024-2025 and 2025-2026, the state launched a major infrastructure project to strengthen Anganwadi centers.
The recent development milestones include:
  • New Buildings: Officials inaugurated 3,293 completely new Anganwadi buildings. They successfully handed these finished buildings over to the local communities for immediate use.
  • Center Upgrades: The state transformed 12,140 existing Anganwadi centers in Odisha into 'Saksham Anganwadis' (capable centers). The government achieved this massive upgrade under the Integrated Child Development Services scheme.
These upgraded centers now feature better resources to care for young children, pregnant women, and new mothers.
These recent actions show the government holds a strong commitment to the future of the state. By involving local leaders directly, the Deputy Chief Minister plans to build a highly effective support system. The state aims to give every child and mother the daily support they need to thrive. Strong, well-built Anganwadi centers will ultimately create a healthier and much brighter Odisha for everyone.
