Nayagarh: (Report- Ramakrushna Rath): A large group of journalists in the Nayagarh district recently uncovered an organised plot to harm the reputation of respected citizens. An outside group is actively using social media platforms to target politicians, lawyers, and journalists. The attackers regularly post inappropriate and hurtful comments to insult these professionals and their organisations.

To stop this continuous online harassment, members of the Nayagarh Journalist Association met with the District Superintendent of Police (SP), S. Sushree. The journalists submitted a formal letter and strongly requested immediate police action against the responsible individuals.

A Targeted Attack on a Local Reporter

The online group recently focused their attacks on Anil Kumar Panda. He works as the district reporter for the daily newspaper 'Sakal'. The attackers posted many offensive comments about him and his family members on the internet. Because of this targeted harassment, Mr. Panda filed an official police complaint. The Nayagarh Town Police Station officially registered a criminal case under the number 130/26.
Surprisingly, the police action did not stop the online group. The accused individuals ignored the police case and continued their activities. They even started publishing new videos and posts specifically targeting the entire journalist association and its working members.

Accusations and Association Demands

The journalists clearly explained the serious nature of these crimes to the police chief. They stated that the online group wants to create fear and distrust in the local community. The attackers also allegedly blackmail respected people to collect illegal monthly payments.

The journalist association specifically named two individuals in their police complaint. They identified Jitendra Kumar Sahu from Rajbagicha and Shantanu Bisoyi from Dandor village as the main leaders of this group.
Through their formal memorandum, the association presented the following demands to the police:
Arrest the accused individuals immediately under the law.
Investigate the matter deeply to find and expose any hidden planners behind this scheme.
Permanently block the Facebook accounts that the offenders use for these illegal activities.

Emergency Meeting and Future Actions

The Nayagarh Journalist Association held an emergency meeting late last night to discuss this serious issue and plan their response. They formed a large delegation to visit the police station today. Senior leaders like Advisor Srikant Kumar Khatei, President Baidyabhushan Mohapatra, Secretary Anil Kumar Panda, and Vice-President Prashant Kumar Jena led the group.
Many other senior journalists, including Ramakrishna Rath, Husen Khan, Rajat Patnaik, and several others, joined the gathering. A large number of local reporters stood together to show their unity and support for their colleagues.
The journalists gave a clear warning at the end of their meeting. They announced that they will launch a massive, organised protest in the coming days if the local police administration fails to take quick and strict action against the online group.
