JHARSUGUDA, MAY 1: (Report- Lipikarani Raut): Thousands of workers gathered in Jharsuguda to celebrate International Labour Day. The Progressive Labor Forum (Pragatishila Sramika Mancha) organized this grand event. Workers from various sectors joined hands to show their unity. They celebrated their hard work and discussed their future goals. The event featured a morning rally, a public meeting, and a special award ceremony.
Massive Morning Rally
The day started with a massive rally in the morning. Thousands of men and women walked through the main streets of Jharsuguda town. They marched together with great energy. The workers chanted powerful slogans to spread awareness about their rights in society. This peaceful march showed the strength and unity of the local labor force. Citizens of Jharsuguda watched as the long procession moved safely through the city.Public Meeting and Key Speeches
After the rally, the workers gathered at the Progressive Labor Forum premises for a public meeting. Mr. Rakhyakar Anupam, the founder and convener of the forum, led the discussion. He spoke about the rich history of International Labour Day. He reminded the crowd about the historical events in Chicago, where workers sacrificed their lives for fair working hours. He pointed out that many workers still struggle to get their basic rights today. He encouraged the workers to stop accepting unfair treatment. He urged them to become aware of their rights and stand up for themselves legally and peacefully.Many important guests attended the public meeting. Mr. Biranchi Sahu, a prominent labor organiser, joined as the Chief Guest. He talked about the daily problems that workers face in their workplaces. Mr. Ratnakar Pradhan, the Joint Secretary of the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) Employees Union Odisha, served as the keynote speaker. He explained how workers can secure their jobs and protect their futures.
Several other respected guests gave inspiring speeches. These guests included social worker Soumitra Kar and leading labor leaders like Dillip Behera, Pramod Kishor Parida, Basudev Parida, Sushama Sahu, Chintamani Kishan, Puja Parida, and Subanti. They all asked the workers to stay united.
Honoring Dedicated Workers
The organisers also took time to honor outstanding community members. They rewarded four dedicated individuals for their hard work and social service. The honored individuals were Puja Kusum, Gouri Pradhan, Tarulata Giri, and social worker Shiba Munda. The leaders presented them with traditional shawls and financial rewards.Sanjukta Lartha and Pramodini Rout successfully managed the entire program. They ensured that the event ran smoothly from start to finish. Finally, the forum leaders thanked the thousands of workers for their active participation. The inspiring meeting ended on a positive and hopeful note.
