Laikera, Jharsuguda: (Reported by: Anil Kumar Saraf): The Hirakhand Electricity Employees Union organised a protest on Thursday. The workers gathered outside the Laikera Electricity Office in the Jharsuguda district to voice their concerns.
The union opposes the recent job cuts made by TPWDL. Union members state that the company uses cost-cutting as an excuse to dismiss workers without fair reason.

During the protest, the union highlighted their primary goals:
Stop the sudden dismissal of employees immediately.
  • Provide permanent job status to contract and outsourced workers.
  • The union members submitted a formal letter of demands to Aditya Patel, the Junior Engineer of the Laikera section.

Future Actions

Division Secretary Rupak Dalai warned the management about future actions. He stated that the protests will expand if the company does not resolve the job cut issue. The union plans to hold upcoming protests outside the subdivision, division, and circle offices.
