Panchayati Raj Day in Nayagarh: Grand Celebration & Award Winners

Nayagarh: (Report- Ramakrushna Rath): Nayagarh district celebrated Panchayati Raj Day with great enthusiasm. Officials hosted the district-level program at the Sanskruti Bhavan in Nayagarh. The event brought together many local leaders and administrators to discuss village development and reward outstanding work. 

Key Guests and Leaders

Er. Dushmanta Kumar Swain attended the event as the Chief Guest. He serves as the Honorable MLA of Khandapada and the Chairman of the District Planning Board. Smt. Madhumita Rath, the District Collector, presided over the main meeting.
Many other important leaders joined the program. Er. Debashish Patnaik, the Zilla Parishad Chairman, and Mr. Lagnajit Rout, the Chief Development and Executive Officer, participated actively. Mr. Raghav Mallick represented the Honorable Member of Parliament from Kandhamal. Mr. Kishore Chandra Sahoo, the Nayagarh Block Chairman, Mr. Jhadeshwar Das, the District Panchayat Officer, and Smt. Aishwarya Bhuyan, the Block Development Officer, also attended. Journalist Mr. Ramakrishna Rath hosted the entire program and kept the events moving smoothly.

Event Highlights and Speeches

The leaders started the program by lighting a traditional lamp. Everyone present stood and sang "Bande Utkala Janani," the official state song. Organizers warmly welcomed the guests and presented them with traditional shawls, flower bouquets, and trophies. The guests delivered speeches and explained the main goals of Panchayati Raj Day.
Later in the program, the attendees watched a live virtual broadcast. They listened to the Honorable Chief Minister deliver his special address directly from Balangir district.

Excellence Awards Distributed

The administration rewarded various blocks and gram panchayats for their outstanding performance in government schemes. Organizers gave official certificates and trophies to the top performers.
Here are the major award winners:
  • Antyodaya Griha Yojana: Nayagarh block secured the first position. Odagaon block took the second place, and Nuagaon block won the third prize.
  • MGNREGA Scheme: Gania block won the first prize for completing one hundred percent of its assigned work. Nayagarh block achieved the second position. Khandapada block received a special award for completing its e-KYC tasks.
  • Vikashit Gaon Vikashit Odisha: Bhapur block received an award for spending the highest amount of development funds for the financial years 2024-2025 and 2025-2026.
  • Independent Revenue Collection: Nayagarh block collected 23 lakh rupees through its own efforts and won first place. Gania block secured second place. Lenkudipada Gram Panchayat under Nayagarh block took the third spot.
  • Swachh Bharat Abhiyan: Banamalipur in Khandapada block stood first for cleanliness. Gania Gram Panchayat took second place, and Gopalpur Gram Panchayat in Ranpur block secured third place.
  • Mission Shakti: Nayagarh block achieved first place for empowering women. Bhapur block took second, and Nuagaon block finished third.
  • Central Finance Commission Funds: Baghuapalli Gram Panchayat in Bhapur block utilized the grant money best and won first place. Pandiripada Gram Panchayat in Odagaon block secured the second position.
The successful event highlighted the hard work of local administrations. The leaders encouraged everyone to continue working hard for the progress of their respective regions.
