Angul: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi attended the 'Nari Shakti Vandan' program in Angul district today. He addressed a large gathering of women and stated that women form the core strength of a family, a society, and a nation. He viewed the massive turnout at the event as a highly positive sign. He believes this energy will drive the future progress of Odisha.
Furthermore, the government allocated a massive 1.22 lakh crore rupees for women in the current state budget. The state increased the gender budget by 30 percent compared to last year. The Chief Minister said this extra funding will greatly improve education, skill training, and business opportunities for women.
Call for Female Leadership
The Chief Minister encouraged women to step up and take leadership roles. He wants to see women lead at all levels, from local village councils (Panchayats) all the way to the national Parliament. He urged everyone to support the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam (Women's Reservation Bill). He warned that opposing this bill shows disrespect toward women. He firmly stated that the country cannot achieve full development without the progress of women. He called women's empowerment the true foundation for building a prosperous Odisha and a developed India.Cultural Values and National Vision
Mr. Majhi reminded the audience about traditional Indian values. He quoted a famous Sanskrit saying that means gods live where people respect women. He then praised the Prime Minister's vision for "women-led development." He noted that this vision gives a new direction to women across the country. Today, women prove their skills in many fields. They excel in education, science, sports, and public administration. He proudly mentioned President Droupadi Murmu as a highly inspiring symbol of female power.State Schemes Bring Real-Life Success
The Chief Minister highlighted several state programs designed to empower women:- Subhadra Scheme: This program gives financial independence to women.
- Lakhpati Didi: This initiative helps women build self-reliance and start businesses.
- Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana: This scheme helps needy families cover wedding expenses.
Budget Growth and Future Goals
Mr. Majhi shared some impressive numbers with the crowd. He announced that Angul district alone has more than 90,000 "Lakhpati Didis." Across the entire state, that number reaches over 1.7 million. He also talked about the marriage assistance scheme. The government has already provided over 1.71 crore rupees to help 388 young women marry.
