Mahakalapada: (Report- Saroj Pani): The local block administration of Mahakalapada successfully hosted the National Panchayati Raj Day 2026 on Friday, April 24. Local leaders and officials gathered to honor the local government system. They used this special day to help many needy citizens. The event focused heavily on rural development, public welfare, and fulfilling government promises.

Key Attendees at the Event

Many important guests attended the public meeting to celebrate the occasion. Local Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Dr. Durga Prasanna Nayak joined the event as the Chief Guest. Block Chairperson Mirarani Mohanty and the Member of Parliament's representative, Janaki Pradhan, attended the meeting as guests of honor.
Other key administrative officials also came to show their support and manage the program. Tahasildar and in-charge Block Development Officer (BDO) Rabi Narayan Acharya took part in the event. Block Social Security Officer (BSSO) Deepak Parida also joined the celebration to oversee the welfare distributions.

Government Promises and Speeches

During the event, Chief Guest Dr. Durga Prasanna Nayak gave an inspiring speech to the public. He explained how the government plans to improve the local Panchayati Raj system in the coming days. He promised that the new system will work faster and better for the rural people.
The MLA assured citizens about the pension application process. He stated that people will no longer wait for years to get their old-age or widow pensions. The administration will approve new applications quickly. He also shared updates on the recent election promises. He announced that the government has already fulfilled 17 election promises. He assured the public that the government will complete the remaining promises very soon.

Distribution of Welfare Benefits

The administration used this special occasion to distribute many welfare benefits. Officials handed out financial help to hundreds of local people at the end of the meeting.
  • Officials distributed regular pensions to a total of 424 citizens.
  • This group included 254 older adults who received old-age pensions.
  • It also included 170 individuals who received widow, disability, or deserted women pensions.
  • Block officials distributed newly increased pension amounts to 398 beneficiaries.
  • Under the National Family Benefit Scheme, three eligible beneficiaries received a financial assistance amount of 20,000 rupees each.

Land Rights and Housing Support

The Chief Guest also distributed legal land documents, known as pattas, to give poor families permanent land rights. Under the Forest Rights Act, officials gave land titles to 23 local people. Under the Basundhara Yojana, three more citizens received their land titles.
The event also brought good news for housing development. Officials gave new work orders to 20 beneficiaries under the Antyodaya Housing Scheme. They also handed out special incentive money to a select group. Two people received 20,000 rupees each, and one person received 10,000 rupees.
All the subordinate block staff members worked hard together as a team. They organized the program smoothly and helped the local citizens receive their benefits on time.
