CHHATRAPUR, April 7 (Report- Ramakrushna Pani): Authorities in Chhatrapur celebrated a special day for children recently. They called this district-level event 'Shishu Katha Divas' or Children's Story Day. The organisers held this program to connect young students with the Odia language, literature, and culture. They want to help children build a strong love for their mother tongue. This special day was a proud part of the broader 'Odia Paksha 2026' celebrations. The host for this gathering was the local PM SHRI Onslow Government High School. 
Ganjam Collector Hands Out Books, Urges Kids to Read & Play


Shri V. Keerthi Vasan, the District Collector of Ganjam, attended the function as the chief guest. He spent time interacting with the young students. During the program, the District Collector distributed several books to the children. Most importantly, he handed out copies of 'Barnabodha'. The famous poet Bhaktakabi Madhusudan Rao wrote this classic primer. The Collector also gave the students other fun and useful storybooks.
The District Collector spoke to the children and gave them important life advice. He told the students to focus on both their education and their physical health. He explained that playing games is very necessary for physical and mental growth. At the same time, he asked the children to study with full attention. He advised the students to look beyond their normal school textbooks. He encouraged them to read biographies of great leaders and books that teach good moral lessons.
The guests on the stage discussed the deep value of the 'Barnabodha' book. They explained that this book perfectly combines the Odia language, creativity, and life awareness. Writers published this book over a century ago. However, the guests noted that its ideas still guide and enrich the minds of Odia people today.
Many important officials attended this positive event. Mr. Ajay Kumar Patra, the District Education Officer, and Ms. Aditi Acharya, the District Culture Officer, joined the program. Dr. Pravati Mohapatra, the Additional District Education Officer, and Ms. Suchitra Panigrahi, the Headmistress of the school, also sat on the stage as honored guests. A large number of students and teachers gathered to watch the program. Under the guidance of the Headmistress, all the school staff worked together actively to manage the event successfully.
