BHANJANAGAR/ Belangutha: APRIL 7 (Report- Jay Krishna Patnaik): A tragic incident occurred in Nuasarpali village under the Belaguntha block. A man reportedly killed his wife following a domestic dispute and later took his own life on Monday night.
To support the family, Puja moved to Bhubaneswar six months ago to find work. She had returned to the village this past Sunday.
Shortly after the incident, Chitrasen went to a field about 200 meters away from the village. He ended his life by hanging himself from a tree.
Background of the Dispute
According to reports, Chitrasen Naik (28) and Puja Dash (26) had a love marriage seven years ago. The couple lived together for four years, but financial difficulties often led to arguments. Since Chitrasen was unemployed, the couple faced frequent disagreements.To support the family, Puja moved to Bhubaneswar six months ago to find work. She had returned to the village this past Sunday.
The Incident
On Monday night, a heated argument broke out between the couple. The situation escalated, and Chitrasen attacked Puja with a sharp household tool. The attack resulted in Puja’s death at the scene.Shortly after the incident, Chitrasen went to a field about 200 meters away from the village. He ended his life by hanging himself from a tree.
Police Investigation
Local residents discovered the bodies on Tuesday morning and immediately informed the Belaguntha police. Senior officials, including the Bhanjanagar SDPO, arrived at the village to begin an investigation.The police seized a sharp tool and an iron pipe from the house as evidence. They have registered a formal case and sent the bodies to Berhampur for a post-mortem examination.
The couple is survived by their two young sons.
