Sinapali: 17/04 (Report- Malaya Meher): In the Sinapali block of Nuapada district, alleged arbitrariness and large-scale irregularities by the electricity department have become a major concern for the public. Serious allegations such as “no electricity, yet bills worth lakhs of rupees” have raised questions about the functioning of both the local administration and the department.
Electricity Scam in Nuapada? Sinapali Billed for Zero Power

Due to alleged collusion among departmental staff, bills are reportedly being generated without assessing actual electricity usage. At key locations like Ravan Chhak, Gayatri Chhak, Kapasi Bargachha Chhak, and the Block Colony, mini high-mast lights have remained non-functional for years. Despite this, regular electricity bills continue to be issued, leaving residents shocked.
The situation has put a financial burden on Gram Panchayats, where limited development funds are being spent on clearing inflated or incorrect electricity bills instead of being used for development work. The Sarpanch of Sinapali has reportedly submitted multiple written complaints, but no effective action has been taken so far.
On the contrary, authorities have allegedly threatened consumers and even disconnected street lights citing pending dues. This has further intensified public anger in the region. Residents are now demanding immediate intervention from the district administration to resolve the issue.
