CUTTACK, April 25, 2026 (Rupashree Swetapadma Mohanty): District-level World Malaria Day was observed today at the conference hall of the District Health Office in Cuttack. The main objective of this year’s observance is to raise public awareness about malaria and promote preventive measures for its control and eradication.

Additional District Public Health Officer Dr. Ashok Kumar Mishra, who attended as the chief guest, highlighted the causes, symptoms, and prevention of malaria. He stressed that collective effort is essential for malaria control and that the ultimate goal of observing the day is the complete elimination of the disease.
Vector-Borne Disease Consultant Smruti Ranjan Rout spoke in detail about malaria as well as other mosquito-borne illnesses and their preventive measures. Citing successful malaria control models from other countries, he urged everyone to remain vigilant and proactive.

Another key highlight of the event was a quiz competition on malaria. The winners who participated in the competition were felicitated with prizes.
At the conclusion of the programme, District Programme Manager T. Narayan Rao delivered the vote of thanks. Also present on the occasion were Wise Men International Chairman Advocate Prasanna Kumar Nanda, along with a large number of ASHA workers and nursing college students.
