CUTTACK: (Reported by Debidatta Shivaprasad Nayak): Recently, the Railway Intelligence Department warned passengers about active thieves on trains. The department also released photos of known suspects. Based on this information, Railway Protection Force (RPF) officers kept a close watch on travelers.
On Thursday morning, a woman acted suspiciously while walking around platforms 2 and 3 at the Cuttack Railway Station. RPF officers noticed that her face matched one of the photos provided by the intelligence department.
The RPF immediately contacted the Government Railway Police (GRP). RPF officers quietly surrounded the woman so she would not realize they were watching her. Female officers from both the GRP and RPF soon arrived and arrested her.
Two days earlier, a train passenger reported a theft of 20,000 rupees. The police investigation proved that this woman stole the cash. Officers successfully recovered the stolen money from her possession.
