Athagarh, April 14, 2026 (Rupashree Swetapadma Mohanty): The Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti Samaroh-2026 was observed today under the aegis of Dalit Adivasi Bahujan Manch, Athagarh-Tigiria. Marking the occasion, a massive rally was taken out from Nuapatna in Athagarh that culminated at Tigiria.
Hundreds of people, including men, women, and youth, participated in the rally carrying portraits of Dr. Ambedkar and banners on constitutional rights. The procession reverberated with slogans of ‘Jai Bhim’ as it moved through the main streets, drawing public attention to Babasaheb’s ideals. Blue flags and drum beats accompanied the rally, reflecting the spirit of the occasion.
A public meeting was held at Tigiria after the rally. Speakers paid rich tributes to the architect of the Constitution and elaborated on his lifelong struggle for social justice, dignity, and equality. They said Ambedkar’s vision remains a guiding light for the marginalised sections and underlined the relevance of his ideas in present times.
Leaders of the Manch called upon the gathering to follow Babasaheb’s mantra of ‘Educate, Organise, Agitate’. Activists and supporters took a collective pledge to work for education, social equality, and constitutional awareness in every village of the Athagarh-Tigiria region. A resolution to strengthen the movement for social justice at the grassroots was passed unanimously.
The programme concluded peacefully with organisers thanking the participants and local administration for cooperation.
