NAYAGARH: (Report- Ramakrushna Rath): The Banshidhar Smruti Parishad and the Banshidhar International Foundation for Peace and Development organised the 33rd State-Level Vishuba Milan and Poetry Festival today. The event celebrated the Odia New Year and Maha Vishuba Sankranti.
Manoj Kumar Sahoo managed the program. Bidulata Sahu presided over the meeting, which took place at Banshidhar College.

Opening Ceremony and Speeches

The event began with the lighting of a traditional lamp. Guests placed a garland on the statue of Banshidhar Sahoo to show their respect. Sujata Sahoo then recited the Hanuman Chalisa. Umesh Chandra Pattnaik directed the meeting, while Dr. Sukanti Mohanty coordinated the overall program.
Chief Speaker Nirakar Swain and Guests of Honor Rinabala Sahoo and Bideshi Nayak delivered powerful speeches. They honored the memory of Banshidhar Sahoo and discussed various poets and their poetry. The speakers also highlighted the life works of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Lord Hanuman.

Award Ceremony

The organisers presented several prestigious literary awards during the event for the year 2026:
  • Bideshi Nayak received the Banshidhar Smruti Saraswata Samman.
  • Nilima Nanda received the Banshidhar Smruti Sahitya Samman.
  • Gopinath Parida received the Banshidhar Smruti Yuva Sahitya Samman.
  • Arun Kumar Sahoo received the Banshidhar Smruti Patrakar Samman.
  • Rabindra Rout received the Banshidhar Smruti Gourav Samman.

Poetry Recitation

Around 60 poets recited their original poems. Notable participants included Ranganath Behera, Kishor Sahloo, Sujata Sahoo, Sheikh Abdul Khalik, Nirmala Chandra Suradeo, Golak Bihari Nayak, Debendra Nath Paramguru, Anita Swain, Mamata Manjari Devi, Maguni Khanda, and Dr. Sukanti Mohanty. Harapriya Dwivedi and Kshanaprabha Kar smoothly coordinated the poetry reading sessions.
To conclude the successful event, Dr. Sukanti Mohanty delivered the official vote of thanks.
