Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Legislative Assembly has officially cleared a substantial budget of ₹7,627.83 crore for the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Department for the 2026-27 fiscal year. This major financial boost aims to transform the industrial landscape of the state and create thousands of new opportunities for the youth.

He emphasized that the MSME sector is now the second-largest employer in the state, standing right after agriculture. By strengthening these small businesses, the government intends to provide a stable livelihood for millions of families.

Strengthening the Backbone of the Economy
Currently, the state's Udyam Portal shows a massive registration of 14,03,200 enterprises. This figure reflects the growing entrepreneurial spirit in Odisha. To support these businesses, the government has outlined a multi-pronged strategy:- Financial Ease: Small business owners will now have access to easier credit facilities and low-interest loans.
- Capital Support: The government is providing capital subsidies to help entrepreneurs set up or expand their units.
- Global Reach: New export incentives will help local products reach international markets.
- Modernization: Special funds are allocated for technology upgrades so that local industries can remain competitive.
Infrastructure and Innovation
The Minister also shared plans for physical infrastructure development. The state is setting up dedicated MSME Parks across various districts. These parks will act as hubs where businesses can share resources and reduce operational costs.Furthermore, the government is doubling down on its Startup Odisha initiative. By focusing on young entrepreneurs, the state hopes to turn fresh ideas into profitable ventures. There is also a significant push toward cluster-based development. This means grouping similar industries together to improve efficiency and create a stronger supply chain.
