NAYAGARH: (Report- Ramakrushna Rath): A seminar titled "Safe Products, Reassured Consumers" was held today at the District Collector's conference hall to mark World Consumer Rights Day. The event was organized by the Department of Legal Metrology in collaboration with 'Justice', a local voluntary organisation.

District Collector Madhumita Rath presided over the meeting. She emphasized that consumer laws are active and robust, designed specifically to ensure that every citizen feels secure while making purchases.

  • Right to Safety: Why it is essential for consumers to demand safe and certified products.
  • Fair Trade: The role of legal metrology in ensuring correct weights and measures.

Engaging the Community

The event began with an interactive Q&A session led by senior lawyer Chandra Bijayi Mishra to test and improve legal awareness among the audience.
The seminar saw a large turnout, including:
  • Over 50 students from Unitech Residential College and Divine Education Center.
  • District-level officers and employees from various departments.
  • Members of the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.
The program was coordinated by Shunyajayi Mishra, Secretary of the 'Justice' organisation, and concluded with a vote of thanks by journalist Ramakrishna Rath.
