BHUBANESWAR: Chief Secretary Anu Garg chaired a high-level meeting with department secretaries at Kharavela Bhavan. The meeting focused on fire safety, budget management, and government recruitment.

During the session, the Chief Secretary addressed the recent rise in fire incidents across the state. She directed officials to inspect electrical wiring in all government buildings and ensure that fire safety systems are fully operational. 

Key Highlights of the Meeting

  • Fire Safety: Mandatory inspections of electrical systems and fire extinguishers in departmental offices.
  • Revenue and Budget: Officials reviewed departmental spending and discussed strategies to meet revenue collection targets.
  • Employment Drive: The Chief Secretary emphasized filling vacant positions. The government aims to fill 65,000 posts by June. So far, over 41,000 positions have been successfully filled.
  • Speedy Governance: Ms. Garg instructed secretaries to fast-track urgent projects initiated by the Chief Minister.
The Development Commissioner and several senior secretaries attended the meeting to provide updates on their respective departments.
