How to Grow Your Own Food: Kitchen Gardening Workshop at Model Degree College

Event Highlights

The workshop was led by the college principal, Dr. Manas Ranjan Satapathy, and coordinated by Ritishree Mallick. Three experts shared their knowledge during the session Dr. Saujanendra Swain, Gopal Chandra Mohapatra and Sushant Kumar Mishra.
The experts discussed several technical methods for maintaining a home garden. The main goal of the workshop was to highlight two major benefits:
  • Healthy Living: Growing your own vegetables ensures access to poison-free (organic) food, which is vital for a healthy lifestyle.
  • Self-Reliance: It encourages people to become self-sufficient and reduces their dependence on the market.
Around 50 participants attended the training. Key organisers and student leaders, including Shubhashree Samantaray, Amrita Sen, and Akash Pradhan, played a vital role in making the event a success.
The workshop concluded with a call to action for everyone to start small gardens in their own backyards or balconies to promote a greener and healthier environment.
