Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Police Commissioner S. Devadatta Singh held a press conference to outline security measures for the upcoming Holi festival. The primary goal is to ensure a peaceful celebration while strictly enforcing road safety and public order.

Zero Tolerance for Drunk Driving
The Commissioner sent a clear warning to those planning to drink and drive. If anyone is caught driving under the influence of alcohol during the festival:- The vehicle will be seized immediately.
- The driver will be arrested.
- To enforce this, the police will set up 85 checking points across the city specifically to catch drunk drivers.
Heavy Security Deployment
The city will be under tight supervision to prevent any untoward incidents. The security plan includes:- Top Leadership: The DCP will lead the operations, supported by 4 Additional DCPs and 8 SPs.
- Patrolling: 17 mobile police teams will constantly patrol the streets to monitor the situation.
- Quick Response: 4 striking force teams are ready to handle any emergencies.
Safety at Riverbanks and Water Bodies
Since many people visit rivers and ponds to bathe after playing with colors, the police have identified 10 major bathing spots for extra protection. Firefighters and ODRAF (Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force) teams will be stationed at these riverbanks to prevent drowning incidents."We want everyone to enjoy the festival of colors, but safety is our top priority.
