BERHAMPUR, March 29: (Report- Ramakrushna Pani): The famous Silk City Festival is set to take place at the Khallikote Unitary University campus from April 6 to April 12.
Local leaders and officials recently met at the Special Circuit House to discuss the event's final preparations. Berhampur MLA K. Anil Kumar chaired the meeting, while Mayor Sanghamitra Dalai was also present.

Key Highlights of the Meeting
MLA K. Anil Kumar urged everyone to work together to make the festival a grand success. He asked officials to ensure all tasks are completed smoothly. Meanwhile, Ganjam District Collector V. Keerthi Vasan emphasized teamwork between different departments. He set a deadline of April 3 to finish all preliminary work.What to Expect at the Festival
The meeting covered several exciting features planned for the week-long event:- Exhibitions: Visitors can explore the Pallishree Mela and stalls set up by Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
- Food & Entertainment: There will be a dedicated food court, traditional sports, "fun games," and an indigenous food competition.
- Special Events: The festival will include a cultural program and a display of agricultural machinery.
- Recognition: The best-performing SHGs will receive special awards during the event.
Safety and Management
The administration is focusing heavily on public comfort and safety. Officials discussed several critical management areas:- Traffic & Security: Maintaining law and order and controlling traffic flow.
- Public Health: Ensuring clean drinking water, proper sanitation, and medical services.
- Environment: A strict ban on polythene use will be enforced throughout the venue.
- Emergency Services: Fire safety teams will be stationed at the site.
