Nayagarh: The Odisha Retired Employees Association recently celebrated its 51st annual day at its Bhubaneswar office. The event served as a powerful reminder that retirement is not an end, but a new chapter for community service.

Presided over by retired senior police officer Suryamani Tripathi, the gathering brought together former government employees from across the state to discuss their rights, duties, and their roles in shaping society.

The highlight of the ceremony was the felicitation of seven retired employees for their outstanding contributions to various fields. Among them, two residents from the Nayagarh district brought special pride to their community:
  • Sukanta Choudhury: A retired Headmaster and dedicated environmental activist from Kural village.
  • Bidyadhar Maharana: A retired agricultural scientist and noted columnist, also from Kural.
By honoring these individuals, the association highlighted how professional expertise can be redirected toward environmental protection and social education. Their recognition has sparked pride and praise across the Odagaon block and the entire Nayagarh district.
