KOLKATA: Vice-President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan traveled to Kolkata on Friday to lead the Parakram Diwas celebrations at the iconic Victoria Memorial Hall. The event marked the 129th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, one of India’s most influential freedom fighters. 
During his address, the Vice-President described Parakram Diwas as more than just a tribute. He called it a "transmission of courage" that connects different generations of Indians. He praised Netaji for choosing a life of sacrifice over personal comfort. Radhakrishnan specifically mentioned Netaji’s famous decision to resign from a prestigious position in the Indian Civil Services to fight for the nation's independence.
According to the Vice-President, Netaji’s life serves as a blueprint for the modern youth. He encouraged young people to take responsibility for the country's future and help build a "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India), a goal shared by the Prime Minister.
The Vice-President also opened a special exhibition at the Victoria Memorial. This display features rare items belonging to Netaji, including:

New Book and Rare Artifacts
As part of the ceremony, the Vice-President launched a new book titled "Dad Remembers Netaji." The book, written by Shri C. V. Ananda Bose, provides personal stories that offer a human perspective on the legendary leader. Radhakrishnan remarked that such writings help younger generations understand the man behind the historical figure.The Vice-President also opened a special exhibition at the Victoria Memorial. This display features rare items belonging to Netaji, including:
- His personal fountain pen.
- His original educational certificates.
- Official medals from the Indian National Army (INA).
