PM Modi’s Vision: Ramayana and Mahabharata to Go Global in Gaming

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon the youth of India to take the nation's rich cultural heritage to the world stage through the power of modern technology. Speaking at the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue, the Prime Minister highlighted a unique opportunity for India to dominate the global gaming industry. He urged young developers and creative minds to adapt ancient Indian epics, such as the Ramayana and Mahabharata, into high-quality digital games.

A New Era for Indian Culture

The Prime Minister believes that gaming is no longer just a hobby; it is a massive global platform for storytelling. He emphasized that India possesses a treasure trove of stories that are filled with adventure, philosophy, and deep human values. By bringing these stories to international gaming consoles and mobile screens, India can share its cultural identity with millions of people across the globe.
According to PM Modi, this initiative will serve two main purposes:
  • Global Cultural Expansion: It will introduce the richness of Indian traditions to a worldwide audience in a format that they find engaging.
  • Value-Based Education: It will help children and young adults learn about their roots and moral values through the medium of "play."

The Power of "Learning Through Play"

The Prime Minister pointed out that children today spend a significant amount of time on digital devices. Instead of consuming content that is disconnected from their reality, they could interact with games that teach them about courage, loyalty, and justice—themes that are central to Indian mythology. He believes that when children play games based on these legends, they will naturally absorb the wisdom of their ancestors.

Building a "Gaming Hub" in India

PM Modi’s vision aligns with the broader goal of making India a global hub for the animation, visual effects, gaming, and comics (AVGC) sector. He encouraged young leaders to innovate and create world-class products that can compete with the biggest international titles. By blending ancient wisdom with modern coding and graphics, Indian creators can build an entirely new genre of "cultural gaming."
The Prime Minister concluded by reminding the youth that they are the architects of a "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India). By using technology to preserve and promote culture, they are not just building games—they are building a stronger national identity on the global stage.
