CM Urges Stricter Safety Measures Following 'Ama Bus' Accident

Following a tragic road accident involving an 'Ama Bus,' Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep concern over public transport safety. He has directed the Commerce and Transport Department to prioritize the skill development of drivers.
Key safety directives from the Chief Minister include:
  • Mandatory Training: Regular training sessions for drivers to improve driving skills and foster a sensitive attitude toward passengers.
  • Fitness Inspections: Motor Vehicle Inspectors (MVIs) must conduct rigorous fitness checks on all 'Ama Buses.'
  • Special Squads: The government will form a dedicated squad to monitor bus operations and ensure compliance with safety rules.

Compensation Announced for Road Accident Victim

In a related development, the Chief Minister announced financial assistance of ₹4 lakh for the family of Vishnu Patra. Mr. Patra, an auto-rickshaw driver from Jajpur, lost his life in a collision with an 'Ama Bus' at Rupali Square. The compensation will be provided from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund (CMRF). CM Majhi shared his heartfelt condolences with the grieving family during this difficult time.

Fatal Explosion at Stone Quarry near Gopalpur

A powerful blast at a stone quarry near Gopalpur village has resulted in the tragic death of four laborers. The incident occurred within the limits of the Motanga Police Station while the workers were performing their routine duties.
Upon receiving the news, the Odapada Tehsildar and local police rushed to the site to begin an investigation. While four deaths are confirmed, authorities are still searching the area to check for missing or injured persons. Rescue operations remain active as officials inspect the safety standards of the site.

Massive Chargesheet Filed in Pitabas Panda Murder Case

In a significant development in the murder case of lawyer and BJP leader Pitabas Panda, the police are set to file a massive chargesheet today. The document is remarkably detailed, spanning over 30,000 pages.
Due to the sheer volume of the paperwork, the police will transport the report to the Berhampur SDJM Court in a special trunk. So far, the police have arrested 16 individuals in connection with this high-profile case.
